Production Designer | Art Director | Creative

Bec is a film and screen Production Designer who brings 20+ years of diverse and relevant experience in architecture, design, theatre, project management, teaching and event creative production.

Renowned for her ability to bring narratives to life, Bec thrives on the challenge of crafting captivating visual experiences which build outward from the emotional core of a story and the characters’ experiences.

How did they get to this point? What do they value and aspire to?
Our things, and how we accumulate them in the spaces we inhabit, as well as the spaces themselves, whether intentionally or not, are visual cues of who we are and what we value.

She thinks critically about how visual cues shape narrative and seeks to create immersive ‘authentic’ fictional worlds which support the performances.

Bec combines a genuine passion for design with meticulous attention to detail, consistently yielding imaginative, resourceful and collaborative results. She has a hands-on approach and is adept at working within the constraints of lower budgets to achieve “a lot with a little”. Working with limited resources has honed her creative problem-solving abilities and broadened her sourcing network.

Bec brings a diverse and versatile range of abilities to her craft at the intersection of narrative, architecture and art. She deftly operates her tools (from spreadsheets to paintbrushes) to transform spaces (whether sound stage or remote locations) for storytelling. And here’s the rub; when design is done well, it feels invisible – like it evolved and was always there.

It’s part of the magic – to wonder ‘what if…’; to bring it to life and then make it all disappear.
